Nikolai Bukharin, who was one of the most powerful men on earth as well as a Russian Communist leader who took part in the Bolshevik Revolution, journeyed from Moscow to Kiev in 1930. His mission was to address a huge assembly with his subject, being atheism. For a solid hour, he aimed his verbal guns in an attempt to discredit Christianity by screaming hurling every insult and ridicule he could think of.
At last when he was finished and viewed what seemed to be the charred ashes of men's faith, he asked "'Are there any questions?' with not one refute or noise offered in response.
A solitary man ( some say he was a preacher ) arose and began to speak. He mounted the platform and moved close to the Bukharin. The audience was breathlessly silent as the man surveyed them from the left to the right, then after a long pause, the man joyously shouted “CHRIST IS RISEN!'
The vast assembly arose as one voice and the response came crashing like the sound of thunder, “HE IS RISEN INDEED!”
Today here in America many are shouting "Away with Christianity! Crucify it! Crucify it!" Christianity is frequently still being attacked. So let those of us who name the name of Christ— celebrate our belief; not only on special occasions but every day of the year—by our lives and by our testimonies rise to the occasion and stand up as one to claim: "HE IS RISEN INDEED!"
